Sam Pitroda, Advisor to the Prime Minister of India on Public Information Infrastructure & Innovations

sam Sam Pitroda is an inventor, entrepreneur and policymaker and widely regarded as the father of India's telecom revolution. Currently Advisor to the Prime Minister of India on Public Information Infrastructure & Innovations, where he will be looking into creating information infrastructure for enhancing delivery of services to the citizens in various areas and will also be working on creating a roadmap for a 'Decade of Innovation' in India.

He is also the founder & Chairman of C-SAM Inc, head of an expert committee on ICT in Indian Railways, the Chairman of the Smart Grid Task Force (Ministry of Power, GoI) & has recently been appointed the founding Commissioner of the United Nations Broadband Commission for Digital Development.

In the past, he was crucial in the establishment of C-DOT as well as served as the Chairman of the National Knowledge Commission.

He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2009 for his contribution to science and engineering.

He holds a Masters in Physics & Electronics from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago.
