Prof. Gurinder Sohi: John P. Morgridge Professor/E. David Cronon Professor of Computer Sciences, UW-Madison

GuruGuri Sohi ('81) received a Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois, and has been a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 1985. He is currently the John P. Morgridge Professor and the E. David Cronon Professor of Computer Sciences in the Computer Sciences and Electrical and Computer Engineering departments. As an academician, Sohi co-authored several papers and patents that have influenced both researchers and commercial microprocessors. He also heavily interacted with industry, with the likes of Digital Equipment, HaL, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, MIPS, Motorola, Silicon Graphics, and Sun Microsystems. He has won several awards including the ACM SIGARCH Maurice Wilkes Award ('99), Vilas Associate ('97), WARF Kellett Mid-Career Faculty Researcher Award ('00) and was selected a WARF Named Professor (E. David Cronon Professor of Computer Sciences) in ('07). He is also a Fellow of the ACM and a Fellow of the IEEE and was elected as a member of the prestigious National Academy of Engineering.
